I really like this series for its voice actors -- they are just so outstanding, so much better than most other well known Japanese animations! I couldn't give a higher rate, because the storyline is somewhat average and the painting is up and down from episode to episode.

In S01 E33-34 Yugi and Joey have a battle and Joey Doesn't even win 😡😡😡😡😡😡. Can you believe some little twerp with goofy bozo hair beats my king Joey. Joey is literally the hottest character and funniest boy in the world and yugio wins?!?! This show is garbage and absolutely fart coded. Next time make Joey win Everytime cause he's so cute and he's my senpai and I love him and he's better than yugi. Debate me bro I will win because I know I'm right. Joey is literally Jesus in anime form and you're gonna tell me some literal cheese stick could defeat him? Yeah right. Gone gone lookey go outside later bro.

First thing's first. This show was loved by pretty much every preteen kid in the early 2000s (including myself). Having said that, looking back, the English dub of the show is a bit too pandering and repetitive (and when I say 'a bit', I mean 'excessively') The changes 4Kids Entertainment made to the English dub of Yugioh, at times, are just too silly that they have eventually become memes. No death, no guns, but let's leave in the part about people losing their souls, that's A-OK! At this stage of my life, Yugioh is kind of a guilty pleasure, just because of how over the top it can get. There's a guy on YouTube called LittleKuriboh who makes a living from taking the mick out of the show, for God's sake! When it boils down to it, most of the hinging story threads are really silly. "Let's play a children's card game in order to decide the fate of the world!" "The heart of the cards will guide me!" "The power of friendship will never leave us." And speaking of the last part, talk about emphasizing the friendzone to the nth degree! Tea, the token female of the group harps on about this constantly, but you just know that Yugi harbours feelings for her regardless. Another point that takes away from the show is the relentless padding and repetition. Card games or "duels" against adversaries are stretched out to 3-4 episodes because flashbacks and inner monologues are shoehorned into the episodes constantly. There are times where I genuinely feel like going "GET ON WITH IT!!" I guess that's just an anime cliché though. Overall, the premise of Yugioh is ridiculously silly but it still holds a special place in my heart (as cheesy as that sounds). LittleKuriboh's Abridged Series has been a bonus to come out of the show's creation.

Glad that i didnt stop watching it after season 1 since it was too boring and the gameplay system wasnt as i remembered. The fillers in between were awful and unnecessary. Season 2 was the best for me by giving us more depth into the storyline with better gameplay system (just like i used to play with). Introducing great villains, god cards and much more mystical entities (although culturally inappropriate). Then the hype slows down in season 3 as the main villain turns out to be annoying and too juvenile. Then onto ridiculous filler arc (in between the main arc) that was all about kaiba past which was too boring. Took too many episodes of flashbacks and repetitive conversations too end this arc. Then season 4 started strong with much more mystical and adventure-esque but turns out to be awful as well. The execution were too chessy, and the dragons were too plain and were huge letdowns. This is where the whole plot of the series turned very complicated and confusing. Felt like a filler season. Last season 5 started with short filler arc involving Kaibaland which was much better than season 4 overall. Afterward, continued with the main storyline with the last arc involving yugi's past - which was just okay. The main problem is that it contradicted the whole plotting of the series since season 1. Just doesnt sit well for me with such unprofessional writting. Huge plotholes with head scratching decisions. Anyway, i glad it ended at high note with great final duel match. Overall - Awful storyline progressions with annoying fillers and flashbacks. Culturally inappropriate with tons of plotholes. Very memorable characterisation and full with thrills and fun.
